The State of Georgia declares Cherokee ownership of land and property illegal, and Georgia officials give away Cherokee lands to lottery ticket holders under the watchful Georgia state militia. Cherokee families are evicted from their homes, with their land and property confiscated and livestock seized (Nies, 1996).
